Overview

Jammu and Kashmir is the northernmost state of India locked in Himalayan Mountains. Jammu is the winter capital of the state and known for its temples, particularly The Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra which is visited by over 1 crore (10 million) pilgrims every year, making Jammu the most visited part of Jammu and Kashmir State.

Highlights

  • Srinagar:- Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus, and Dal and Anchar lakes. The city is known for its natural environment, gardens, waterfronts, and houseboats.
  • Sonmarg:- Sonmarg is a hill station in Ganderbal district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir about 80 km north-east of Srinagar.
  • Gulmarg:- Gulmarg is a town, a hill station, a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in the Baramulla district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Pahalgam:- Pahalgam is a hill station in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Mountain trails run northeast to Amarnath Cave Temple, a Hindu shrine and site of the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary is home to animals including brown bears and musk deer. Northeast, the Lidder River runs through scenic Betaab Valley. Southeast, Tullian Lake is flanked by mountain peaks and often frozen.
  • Manasbal Lake:-The lake is a good place for bird watching as it is one of the largest natural stamping grounds of Aquatic birds in Kashmir and has the sobriquet of "supreme gem of all Kashmir Lakes". The rootstocks of lotus plant which grows extensively in the lake are harvested and marketed, and also eaten by the local people.
  • Doodhpathri:-Doodhpathri is a beautiful meadow with emerald grass that looks like a green carpet. A beautiful river dancing and reverberating with the wind flow in the middle of the meadow, lending it a splendid charm and vibrancy. The place looks very beautiful and pleasant. The green grass under the feet is really wonderful.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar

On your arrival at the Srinagar International Airport, you will be taken for 35 minutes drive through the heart of New Srinagar city, passing the Abdullah bridge which connects the banks of the Jhelum river. Proceed for an hour of Shikara ride in the lake. After some rest, a day of local sightseeing that includes a visit to the famous Mughal gardens of Nishat and Shalimar. Dinner and overnight stay in the houseboat.

Day 2: Srinagar - Sonmarg

After breakfast, drive to Sonmarg (90 kms/3 hrs) en route Kheer Bhawani Darshan. On arrival atSonmarg, visit Thajjwas glacier (own cost). Return back to Srinagar. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 3: Srinagar -Gulmarg

After breakfast in the morning, proceed towards Gulmarg. Enroute you get to see the beautiful Tangmarg town and drive ahead on a scenic drive of 14 kilometers to Gulmarg. Arrive in Gulmarg early in the afternoon and check-in at the hotel. Later, begin a short tour, boarding the Gondola cable car system (the 08 minutes ropeway). Descend back to Gulmarg after an hour and later indulge in some horse-riding. Stay overnight at hotel in Gulmarg.

Day 4: Gulmarg -Pahalgam

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and we drive to Pahalgam via Pampore, Avantipura, and the village of Bijbehara which remains famous as the breadbasket of Kashmir. We switch from the national highway 1A at Khanabal and drive through the second largest city of Anantnag. From here the road turns scenic as we drive parallel on the Lidder river flowing from the opposite direction. In Pahalgam, check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Pahalgam.

Day 5: Pahalgam -Srinagar

After Breakfast proceeds In a visitBetaab Valley and Chandanwari as well as take a horse riding trip to Baisaranmeadows. (at your own cost). After sightseeing around the mountain valley for most of the day, we will drive back to Srinagar and transfer to the hotel/houseboat for overnight stay.

Day 6: Srinagar-  Manasbal Lake - Srinagar

After breakfast, drive to Manasbal Lake. Thelake is a paradise for bird watchers. This lake is surrounded by three villagesJarokbal, Kondabal, and Gratbal. The beautiful lotuses blossom by the lakesideduring July and August adds to the beauty of clear waters. Also, visit KheerBhawani Temple. Later drive back to Srinagar for overnight stay.

Day 7: Srinagar -Doodhpathri - Srinagar

After breakfast, drive to Doodhpathri, the valley of milk, located in Budgam district, lies in a bowl-shaped valley in Pir PanjalRange. Its an alpine valley covered with snowclad mountains. Not a lot of tourists come to this place since the road conditions are not favorable. After some quiet and peaceful time at Doodhpathri, be back to Srinagar for overnight stay.

Day 8 :Departure

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and we will assist you with transfers to the airport for your onward journey with memories of offbeat Kashmir tour.
