There has been a long pending demand of the people of Ladakh and to give it the status of a Union Territory to enable them to realize their aspirations. The Union The territory of Ladakh will be without Legislature and Ladakh became a New Union Territory of India.

Ladakh is a mountainous region and the very coldest desert in the world.

In Ladakh, nature has rendered a magical, fantastic landscape and Most unbelievable and which is extremely breathtaking.

Ladakh lies in the north-east region of India and is surrounded by the world’s highest mountain ranges, Karakoram and Great Himalayas. The Ladakh district occupied China in the north and Kashmir in the west and Ladakh is an exotic and famous destination considered as the highest plateau lying at an altitude of 9, 800 ft. Ladakh is the 3rd province of Kashmir Valley. The population of Ladakh is about 2, 60,000 which contain a mixture of many different ethnic groups, predominantly Tibetans, Dards, Monpas, Muslims. Before 6th August 1979, the Ladakh District was divided into Leh District (mostly occupied by Tibetan Buddhist) and Kargil District (mostly occupied by Shia Muslims). But Recent Ladakh is the Union Territory state of India. And Leh is the capital of Ladakh. There are two regions in Ladakh, they are Leh and Kargil.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Leh:-

On arrival at Leh Airport, you will meet our representative and drive to Leh. Check in to
the hotel and some rest and Freshen up the drive to Local Sightseeing Of Leh visit Leh
Market. Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.

Day 2: Leh local sightseeing.

After Morning breakfast in the hotel visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery & Stok Palace
Museum. After lunch drive to visit Hall of Fame, Kali Mata (Temple of Guardians in
Spituk monastery), Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Point and Sangam (confluence of
Indus & Zanskar rivers). Arrival hotel in Leh for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 03: Leh-Tso Moriri.

Morning Breakfast in the hotel drives to beautiful Tso Moriri Lake via Mahe Bridge.
Situated the lake an altitude of 4,500 meters. The lake is approx. 40km long.Tso Morari or "mountain" lake is situated in the middle
of the elevated district of Rupsu and its name is characteristic of its situation and nestled
in the midst of the 20,000 foot plus peaks which completely shut the lake in. Oldest
Legend has it that a woman riding a yak was carried into the lake and first the yak swam
boldly out and the woman (chomo) was delighted. But after a while, the animal grew
tired and sank deeper in the water. The chomo became frightened and screamed "Ri Ri,
Ri" until the yak sank and she drowned. Since then, the lake has been called Chomo-
RiRi.
A kilometer ahead is the picturesque village of Korzok consisting of about a hundred
families. Visit the gompa set on top of the village. Belonging to the Gelug-pa sect, it is
about 360 years old and has 35 resident monks. The exterior has been renovated but the
main prayer room is intact. Camp on the banks of this beautiful lake for the night.Overnight
Stay in Camps at Tso - Moriri.

Day 4 Drive Tso - Moriri to Sumdo.

After breakfast, a two-hour drive from Tso Morari gets us to Sumdo village (Sumdo
means “confluence” in Tibetan). Make camp at the side of the river which is tainted with
sulfur from the hot springs nearby. The birdlife at this junction is quite varied. Besides
the occasional lammergeier and other raptors, interestingly, at this high altitude, black-
headed terns and brown-headed gulls are often sighted. Overnight camping.

Day 5: Trek Simdo to Puga Village- 3 to 4 hours:

Today is an easy walk along the Puga stream through a beautiful wide valley strewn with
numerous hot springs and brooks teeming in fish. Cross a wooden cantilever bridge of
typical Tibetan or Ladakhi design to Sumdo, a small Changpa village with a delightful
little Tibetan Refugee school worth visiting.

Day 6: Trek Puga Village over Polokongka la - 6 to 7 hours:

The destination today is the western side of Polokongka La (16,000 ft/4,878 m). The trek
up to the pass is long but gradual and not too strenuous and gives you the chance to
admire the spectacular rock formations and stark beauty of the region. The pass itself
consists of a flat plain, with the glacial run-off which has created grazing lands for the
yaks of Sumdo and Karzok villages.
Descend 1,000 feet and make camp beside one of the freshwater streams running off the
mountains. Here we are likely to encounter the wandering Changpa tribes with their
distinctive black tents made of yak wool. Overnight stay at Camps.

Day 7: Trek Polokongka La CAMP to Tso Kar Valley - 6 to 7 hours:

Continue descending down from Polokonga La into the remote Tso Kar valley, crossing
the brackish lake of Startsapuk Tso and Tso Kar (salt) where we have a very good chance
of spotting the fabled kyang (wild ass). Numerous birds such as the black-necked crane,
Brahminy duck, Nangpas (wild geese) all visit this area for breeding and nesting. Many
other varieties of wildlife are present in this area and although not that easy to see, they
are of great interest to the ornithologist and naturalist. Make camp near a fresh-water
stream.

Day 8: Trek Tso Kar Valley to Hikim and, drive to Leh:

A half day's trek gets you to the road-head at Hikim where vehicles await you for the 4-
hour drive over the Taglang La (17,528 ft/5.343 m) back to Leh and overnight stay.

Day 09: Leh– Departure:-

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and get driven to Leh Airport for onward
journey. The journey ends with Sweet Memories of Ladakh.
