Bhitarkanika National Park is the core area of Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary located in the north-east region of Kendrapara district in the state of Odisha in eastern India. It spreads over 145 km2 (56 sq mi) and is surrounded by the Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary spread over 672 km2 (259 sq mi). A Ramsar Wetland Site, Bhitarkanika, 672sq km in area, is located on the coast, in the deltas of the Brahmani and Baitarani rivers. The Gahirmatha Marine (Wildlife) Sanctuary, one of the world’s largest rookeries for the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles, is a part of this national park. The river systems of the sanctuary are the habitats of giant saltwater crocodiles – the largest amongst all species of crocodiles – and mangrove forests. The sanctuary was formed for their protection. The name Bhitarkanika means the interiors of the Kanika Kingdom, which was located close to the Dhamara Port of yore, an important trading post.
Arrival at the Balasore Railway Station from there you will meet and assist by our representative ready to Balasore after some rest and freshen proceed to Ramtirtha Forest Lodge. Nature Walk and Nature Study at Herbal Nursery. Visit Crocodile Breeding Farm, subject to time of arrival.
Breakfast at the lodge. Take the motorboat to Ekkakula, 4 hours away. An island on the Bay of Bengal, unknown and straightforward, with a magnificent view of the sunset. Look out for wild boars, hyenas, and jackals. Dolphins can also be spotted in the sea. After that visit the Olive Ridley Turtle nesting site on the beach at Garhimata. Return to Bhubaneswar. Dinner and overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.
After breakfast check out the hotel proceeds to visit Lodge, Nirmala Jhar temple, Narayani temple, and Banpur. Return to Bhubaneswar/onward destination.
