Gurdaspur was named after the founder of the city, Mahant Guriya Das Ji in the 17th century. It is situated 10 kilometers away from the Pakistan border. The city is surrounded by two rivers Ravi and Beas.
Major tourist attractions include Gurdas Nangal, Dera Baba Nanak, Madhopur, Shahpur Kandi Fort, Achaleshwar temple, Fish Park, Gurudwara Chola Sahib, Thada Sahib. Months between November and February are good to visit.
