There has been a long pending demand of the people of Ladakh and to give it the status of a Union Territory to enable them to realize their aspirations. The Union The territory of Ladakh will be without Legislature and Ladakh became a New Union Territory of India.

Ladakh is a mountainous region and the very coldest desert in the world.

In Ladakh, nature has rendered a magical, fantastic landscape and Most unbelievable and which is extremely breathtaking.

Ladakh lies in the north-east region of India and is surrounded by the world’s highest mountain ranges, Karakoram and Great Himalayas. The Ladakh district occupied China in the north and Kashmir in the west and Ladakh is an exotic and famous destination considered as the highest plateau lying at an altitude of 9, 800 ft. Ladakh is the 3rd province of Kashmir Valley. The population of Ladakh is about 2, 60,000 which contain a mixture of many different ethnic groups, predominantly Tibetans, Dards, Monpas, Muslims. Before 6th August 1979, the Ladakh District was divided into Leh District (mostly occupied by Tibetan Buddhist) and Kargil District (mostly occupied by Shia Muslims). But Recent Ladakh is the Union Territory state of India. And Leh is the capital of Ladakh. There are two regions in Ladakh, they are Leh and Kargil.

Day 01 :Arrival Chandigarh - Jammu - Udhampur :

On arrival at Chandigarh Railway Station /Airport and begin the journey towards Udhampur by passing through Jammu. As the city of Udhampur comes into view, you are treated to the sight of dense forests of eucalyptus trees. On arrival, settle into the accommodation arranged for your stay. The rest of the day can be spent at a day free for leisure. You may also undertake some sightseeing on your own. Udhampur is home to unique attractions such as Krimchi Temples, and the lakes of Mansar and Surinsar.

Day 2 Udhampur - Srinagar :

Depart from Udhampur to start one of the most adventurous and beautiful rides of this Chandigarh to Leh bike trip. You will be entering Srinagar, which is a beautiful city located in Jammu and Kashmir and serves as the state's summer capital. Ride through the picturesque Himalayan terrain while navigating the 2,850 meter-long Jawahar Tunnel at Banihal. On reaching Srinagar, you will get to enjoy an overnight stay in a houseboat.

Day 3 Srinagar - Sonmarg - Zojila Pass (3,528 metres) - Drass - Kargil :

After waking up in the houseboat, it is time to explore the splendid Dal Lake via a shikhara. The hour-long shikara ride will introduce you to the rich aquatic life in the lake and may also take you to popular attractions within the lake's boundaries. Proceed to a popular hill station named Sonmarg. When translated, the term Sonmarg means 'meadow of gold'. This area is home to peaks such as Kolahoi, Sirbal and Amarnath. The best part of riding a bike in Sonmarg is that you are surrounded by the mighty Himalayan peaks. So smile as you make your way through the snow-capped mountains! On the way, you will come across Zojila Pass which is located at an altitude of 3,528 meters. Biking at Zojila is definitely an amazing experience because of its landscape which is covered in thick layers of snow. Here, enjoy a cup of hot and delightful Kahwah, which is a popular green tea in Kashmir. Keep moving to Kargil, often described as the 'land of martyrs'. It was here that the historic Kargil War was fought between India and Pakistan. Pay homage to the martyrs of this war by visiting the Kargil War Memorial at Drass. The main attraction here is the sandstone wall that can be found out in the open. It has the names of all the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during this war.

Day 4Kargil - Namika La (3,700 metres) - Fotu La (4,108 metres) - Lamayuru - Leh :

The journey into the mystical land of Leh begins! Hit the road to visit this beautiful town and explore its rich culture that shows both Indian and Tibetan influences. On this day of the Chandigarh to Leh bike trip, you will be travelling on NH-1. This route traverses the Fotu La pass, which the highest point of NH-1. Visit Lamayuru Monastery which is nestled on a steep rock mountain. This ancient Gompa has many shrines and houses a rich collection of thangkas and wall paintings. Proceed to the point where the mighty rivers of Indus and Zanskar converge. It is very easy to identify these two rivers. While Indus has a greenish tinge, the latter is crystal blue in colour. Here, you get to soak in some truly sweeping images. Afterwards, ride on Magnetic Hill, which is a popular biking destination in Leh. The slopes of this hill are famous for creating an optical illusion where vehicles appear to ascend, while in reality, they are actually descending. In other words, the road upwards is actually the road going down. The last destination for the day is Gurudwara Pathar Sahib which is credited to the Indian Army and also maintained by them. The major highlight of this shrine is a boulder which is wrapped by clothes. This rock has a roughly human-sized mark which is associated with a legend involving Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru. After spending some time in the gurudwara, continue the journey towards Leh for an overnight stay.

Day 05: Leh To Pangong Lake – Leh (160 kms / 4 - 5 Hrs – One Way) :

After an early breakfast, we leave for Pangong Lake en-route visiting Shey Palace, Enroute Visit 3 Idiots Rancho School & further 5 Kms Driving through a picturesque landscape we reach Thiksey a very impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village. And en route towards the Changla Pass 17,586 feet third highest motorable road in the world. The long easy ascent takes you will to Changla pass through its winding roads passing through Sakti Village. This famous Pangong Lake is 5/6 Kms wide and over 133 Kms long with half of it's running the other side of the "Indo China Border". You will feel close to nature and the environment and the scenery is unforgettable. After sightseeing of Pangong Lake come Back to Hotel and Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.

Day 06: Leh to Sham Valley (92 Kms):-

Morning breakfast you drive downstream along the River Indus on Leh – Kargil Highway. Enroute you will visit Hall of fame must-visit for every Indian ( constructed by Indian army) and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib Nestled deep in the Himalayas, After drive of another 5 km took us to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity & further Driving through a picturesque landscape we reached the Confluence Of The Indus And Zanskar River, Just before Saspol a road to the right takes you for your visit to the Likir Monastery, Likir is one of the oldest & active monasteries in the region . After visiting the Monastery you will to the River Indus to Uletokpo en-route visiting Alchi Monastery the only monastery build in Indian form of structure and is known as 1st wonder of J&K state. After visiting the above places we drive further and check-in at our camp/hotel for overnight stay and dinner at Sham Valley.

Day 07: Leh–Nubra Valley Via Khardung La- 18,380 Ft. (120 Kms / 4 – 5 Hrs) :

Morning Breakfast drives to Nubra Valley. Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,380 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. Nubra Valley is known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Ladakh and Karakoram ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Overnight Stay at Nubra Valley.

Day 08: Nubra Valley – Leh (120 Kms / 4 – 5 Hrs) :

Morning Breakfast in the camps and drive to Hunder where you have the opportunity to ride on a (Double humped) Bactrian camel the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow-capped mountains on the horizon. Between Diskit and Hunder you come across sand dunes beside the road and seen in isolation you could well be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. When you will come back to Nubra to Leh en-route return at Diskit which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Diskit Monastery is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. After sightseeing of Nubra Come Back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.

Day 09: Leh– Departure:-

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and get driven to Leh Airport for onward journey. The journey ends with Sweet Memories of Ladakh.
