The north-south trending Kullu valley in between Rohtang in the north and Hansu in the south is a wide and open valley filled with Quaternary sediments along the main course of the Beas River.
The Kullu Valley lies in the inner part of the Himachal Lesser Himalaya. The valley is structurally and lithologically controlled and carved by glacial and periglacial processes in the upper region and higher slopes of its tributary valleys, and by fluvial processes in the main valley corridor to produce a landscape of spectacular nature. Kullu valley is famous for its temples, beauty and its majestic hills covered with pine and deodar forest and sprawling apple orchards.
