Overview

Dzuluk or Zuluk or Jhuluk or Jaluk is a small hamlet located at a height of around 10,000 feet on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in East Sikkim of the Indian state Sikkim. This place is a relatively emerging and offbeat destination in East Sikkim. Today it is fast emerging as a new tourist destination.

Sillery Gaon is a small village in the Kalimpong district of the state of West Bengal, India. Sillery Gaon is situated at an altitude of 6000 ft. It locally is known as New Darjeeling.

Pedong lies 20 km east of Kalimpong on the way to Lava at an altitude of 1,240 meters (4.071 feet). The town, which is located on a ridge, commands a panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga and the Himalayan mountains. The town is divided into two parts, Upper Pedong, and Lower Pedong. Pedong lies on the historic Silk Road that connects India to Lhasa via the Jelepla Pass.

Itinerary

Day 1: NJP to Sillerygaon

Pickup at NJP early in the morning and transfer to Sillerygaon, a distance covered in about 3.5 to 4 hrs. Situated at an altitude of 6,000 ft, Sillerygaon is a village of not more than 32 families and that too in the middle of a forest. The place is being proclaimed as the New Darjeeling because of its beautiful view of the Kanchendzonga. Its serene atmosphere is an invitation to run away from the hum and din of the city. The rest of the day is to soak in the beauty of Sillerygaon.
You can visit the Ramitay viewpoint, Tinchuley view point, Silent Valley and the Damsang Fort ruin. The all these places can be hiked/trekked through dense pine forests and no vehicle is required to visit these places. Ramsay viewpoint offers the longest view of River Teesta with approximately 14 turns. Thereafter you can trek to Damsang Fort as well as the Silent valley. Rest of the day at leisure at Sillerygaon.

Day 2: Sillerygaon to Aritar

After breakfast starts your journey for the next leg of your Silk Route trail to Aritar. Reach Aritar, in about 2.5 to 3 hrs. The rest of the day is at leisure at Aritar.
Optional Activity:
You can enjoy paddle boating (Own Cost) in the placid waters of the Lampokhari lake and do a Parikrama of this Holy Lake. Alternately, you can walk up to the Mankhim Temple and enjoy the view of the Kanchendzonga as well as the Lampokhari Lake from there. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Aritar to Zuluk

After breakfast, leave for Dzuluk/Zuluk. Stop at Rongli for Restricted Area Permit. On the way, pass through Lingtam, see the Kuekhola Falls, cross Padamchen and reach Zuluk.
At Zuluk, after lunch, if you so desire, you can visit the Shivalaya Baba Mandir (No vehicle required). And enjoy the sunset at Zuluk from Balasiur sunset point (Walkable distance, no vehicle) Overnight at Zuluk.

Day 4: Zuluk To Kupup and return to Zuluk through Gnathang Valley

Sunrise viewing activity (Only if the weather is expected to be clear):
Start at 3:30 - 4:00 a.m and leave for Sunrise from the Ganek Viewpoint/Lungthung. Enjoy the view of the Kanchendzonga change its hue from Golden to silver and thereafter view the Sunrise over the Bhutan hills. The sunrise view comparable to the best Sunrise anywhere in India. Viewing the majestic beauty of the Himalayas during sunrise from the Sunrise Point is a lifelong memorable experience.
Note: Sunrise Cost is not included in the package and is extra payable on the spot, only if the sunrise trip is availed. And the cost of Sunrise is Rs.1500 for the entire vehicle.
If you go for the Sunrise View, return to Zuluk and then, after breakfast at Zuluk, set out again for the Silk Route trail.
Along the Old Silk Route, enjoy the beauty of the Zig Zag Road, Thambi Viewpoint, Bhulbhulaiya, Lungthung, Laxmi Chowk, Tukla Kalapokhari, Tukla Baba Mandir, Tukla valley, Jelepla Pass View Point (Distant View) and reach Kupup. The Kupup, don’t miss the Hathi Pokhari Lake, also called the Elephant Lake or the Kupup Lake. You may also indulge in window shopping at the shops at Kupup or buy some Chinese stuff at the small shops at Kupup, selling Chinese products and woolens. And do not forget to taste steaming Momos and simmering hot tea at Kupup. And the Kupup, also see the World’s highest Golf course, the Yak Golf Course at 13025 ft (Guinness Book of World Records acclaimed), the Ice Hockey ground and the young Husband’s Track.
Note: You may like to proceed further and visit the New Baba Mandir and the Tsomgo Lake. However additional cost @ Rs.1500 per vehicle is payable for such a trip on the spot.
Otherwise, start your return journey via Tukla and on to Gnathang valley. The Gnathang Valley and Nathang Valley are popularly called the “The Ladakh of East India”. Situated at an altitude of 13,500 ft. of above the sea level, Gnathang Valley is one of the most beautiful spots on the Old-Silk Route sector. And surrounded by snow-capped hills and mountain landscape Gnathang Valley offers an astounding view of Mt. Khanchendzongha. The Mt. Kanchenjunga seem to be at a stone’s throw behind Nathang Valley.
And Chinese Watch Towers are clearly visible from Nathang valley with the naked eyes. Visit the Krishna Temple, the Gnathang Monastery as well as the British Cemetery at Gnathang Valley. Spend the rest of the day at leisure at Zuluk.

Day 5: Zuluk to Reshikhola OR Pedong (Depending upon your choice and subject to availability)

After breakfast, transfer to Pedong or Rishi Khola, a distance covered in about 3.5 to 4 hrs. If you are staying at the Reshikhola, walk across the bamboo bridge to reach your cottage. And Enjoy this lovely picnic spot on the bank of the Reshikhola. And walk up the Parvateshwar Shivalaya Mandir (visible from the cottage on top of a small cliff and involves climbing about 200 stairs). The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy your stay by the river Reshi.
A Brief Note about stay option at Reshikhola:
The Homestays at Reshikhola are situated on the bank of the river Reshi and one has to walk down about 500 to 750 meters to reach them. Vehicles do not go till those homestays. The vehicle will drop you on the road above (Access area to Reshikhola) and you have to walk down the distance to the Homestays. There is no metalled road, one has to walk over small rocks and boulders and loose mud and a bamboo bridge over the river Reshi to reach the homestays.
Porters are available to carry your luggage. However, the porter charges are not add in the package cost and one has to pay for the same on the spot.
People with knee problems or Senior citizens may have some problems going down or coming up. And you are advised to assess your own ability to go down before opting for a stay at Reshikhola. Change of destination cannot be accommodated once a booking is confirmed.

Day 6: Pedong/ Rishi Khola to Ramdhura/Iccheygaon

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to the Reshikhola/Prong and drive to Ramdhura/Iccheygaon. Situated at an altitude of 5000 ft, Ramdhura/Iccheygaon is best known for a lovely view of the Mt. Kanchendzonga as well as the winding River Teesta, all are in a single photo frame. It is just 26 km from the main town of Kalimpong and is an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 7: Ramdhura/Iccheygaon to NJP

Check out from the resort and drive to NJP station / IXB airport to catch your Train / Flight for an onward journey. Tour ends with Sweet memories.
