Baramati is a city and a municipal council in Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is also the home town of the famous Marathi Poet Kavivarya Moropant and politician Sharad Pawar Baramati is located at 18.15°N 74.58°E. It has an average elevation of 538 meters. Phaltan State was one of the non-salute Maratha princely states of British India, under the central division of the Bombay Presidency, under the states of the Kolhapur-Dekkan Residency, Satara Agency and later the Deccan States Agency.
