The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Spiti valley is a research and cultural centre for Buddhists include Key Monastery and Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world and a favourite of the Dalai Lama Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state.

Kaza – Key Monastery – Kibber - Langza

Day 01:
Spiti valley trekking tour will start from Kaza arrival. On the very first day, you will visit the world-famous Ki Monastery. This monastery has a ultimate remarkable structure. After reveling in the magnetic calm and serenity of the place, you will move farther down the valley to the village of Kibber. This village is located 18 km far from Kaza, this village is also a popular base camp to embark on adventure and treks to adjoining mountains of high altitude. From Kibber you can trek to Chicham Village. You will then head to the village of Langza. After reaching over here, you can walk about the village and you can visit the ancient Lang (Temple). You will wake the paleontologist in you as you explore a land rich with fossils of Marine animals and plants traversed this land millions of years ago. Overnight stay at a local homestay with a local family, you can listen to the stories of their life at 14,000 feet.

Trek from Lngza – Komik

Day 02:
On this morning the trek involves hiking through some of the world’s highest inhabited regions. Komik is the highest village in Asia. This farming village has a population of 84 families; they are cut-off from the rest of the world for most parts of the year. Here you can find some of the common animals of the region are the Tibetan wolf, blue sheep, red fox, hare, snow cock, Himalayan griffin, rock pigeon, etc.

Trek from Komik - Demul

Day 03:
On this day you trek to Demul. Demul is a village which redefines remoteness. When you will reach Demul, you are greeted by the local villagers who welcome you into their homes. You can explore the postcard-like scenery of the village on your own, or you can go for a short yak safari. If the season is right, you could harvest Yher leaves that are used to make momo fillings. Here you can learn how to expertly make momos and have a delicious self-made lunch!

Trek from Demul – Lalung

Day 04:
After breakfast in the morning, you will start trekking to Lalung. This village is also known as ‘land of God. Red denotes anger while yellow signifies happiness. Apart from being home to hospitable local families, the village of Lalung is also home to one of the oldest gompas in Spiti Valley. The Lalung Monastery – also known as Sarkhang and Golden Temple.

Trek from Lalung – Dhankar. Drive to Kaza

Day 05:
Today you will start your trek from Lalung to Dhankar, which is the ancient capital of Spiti Valley and the seat of the Spitian Kings. It’s situated mid-way between Kaza and Tabo, the route to Dhankar is along a slight detour situated on a steep mountain ridge jutting over the valley. Here you can visit the fort and monastery at Dhankar. A short trek away from Dhankar is the beautiful turquoise Dhankar Lake which is a must-visit if you have the time and energy. After done with Dhankar, your trek will end and drive to Kaza.
