Overview

The Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It’s known for its living root bridges, made from a rubber tree. This northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Then and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. This South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.

Day - 01 - Arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) and Transfer to Shillong

Guest will be received by our representative and assist in boarding the vehicle for forwarding journey to Shillong - Welcome to Shillong in Meghalaya - Shillong, also called 'Scotland of the East" - It is approximately 130 kilometers and is nearly 03 - 04 hours drive by nice roads and scenic view - While traveling guests can enjoy the majestic Umiam Lake (Barapani) surrounded by sylvan hills and wrapped the beauty of an assortment of green Khasi pines and the azure blue skies. And On arrival at Shillong, check-in at your hotel - Evening you can visit the local market - Overnight stay at Shillong

Day - 02 - Excursion to Cherrapunjee

Guests have to start early to enjoy the mesmerizing mornings of Shillong and after breakfast at 07:30 A.M drive to Cherrapunjee - It is approximately 60 kilometers and is nearly 01½ - 02 hours drive by road - It is one of the wettest places in the world - It is a pleasant drive to see roaring waterfalls leaping into deep gorges, including the famed Nohsngithiang Falls - The beautiful waterfall-Nohkalikai is at Cherrapunjee - Guests also explore some of the caves in and around Cherrapunjee - Evening return to Shillong - On the way visit Elephanta falls and Shillong peak for some breathtaking views - Evening free to stroll around Police Bazaar or local shopping malls or pubs - Overnight stay in Shillong

Day - 03 - Local Sightseeing in Shillong

Full day Local sightseeing in Shillong including The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating - The Botanical Garden offers a plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & a rare collection of orchids - Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with stretches of roses & exquisite flowers - One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick rhododendron trees And pine groves - Spend the evening in the splendid arena! The State Museum is a display of the heritage and lifestyle of the people of Meghalaya and Shillong and its surrounding is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming beautiful misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks - For the Bird’s eye view of Shillong, one can take a stand at Shillong Peak - Back to Shillong and evening free - Overnight at Shillong.

Excursion to Mwallynnong & Dawki - Early morning breakfast - Next, start the excursion to Dawki & Mawllynnong [cleanest village in India] - It is approximately 85 kilometers and is nearly 02½ hours - One way - After breakfast drive to Mwallynnong, the cleanest village in Asia and Dawki, the Bangladesh border - Dawki or Dawki-Tamabil is one of the few road border crossings between India and Bangladesh in Jaintia Hills of India - Dawki Bridge, is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River - Dawki Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River - It was constructed in 1932 by the British - Mawlynnong is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state in North East India - It offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock - It is famous for its cleanliness and natural attraction - It was constructed in 1932 by the British - Later return back to Shillong - Evening visit Local markets - Overnight stay in Shillong

Trek to Nongrihat or the beautiful double-decker living root bridge

Trek from Tyrna village - Tyrna the base village which is 20 kilometers from Cherrapunji - There is only one the straight route to the bridge - Lot is heard about the exact number of steps to the bridge - But from my knowledge, it would be 3400 - The starting 1800 steps are the toughest to climb down and up both - But the effort does not go in vain - There is a very very shaking iron rod bridge which was very scary to cross - The whole bridge shakes and swings and the water flowing 20-25 feet below makes the whole experience fantabulous- There is a single-decker living root bridge as well just before the original double-decker - Must visit the place at Cherrapunjee if u can take the challenge to climb down and climb up the steps - Back to Shillong - Evening free to stroll around Police Bazaar or local shopping malls or pubs - Overnight stay in Shillong

Departure Transfer to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY)
