Overview

Nagaland is a state in northeastern India. The state capital is Kohima and the largest the city is Dimapur.There are 16 inhabitant tribes in this state:- Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Kachari, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Kuki, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Yimchunger, and Zeme-Liangmai (Zeliang). Each tribe is unique in a character with its own distinct customs, language, and dress. Mount Saramati is that the highest peak at three,840 meters and its range forms a natural barrier between Nagaland and Burma. Nagaland is home to the Bhut Jolokia or ghost pepper, one of the hottest chilis in the world at 855,000 SHU on the Scoville scale. All the tribes of Nagaland have their own cookery, and that they use a great deal of meat, fish, and fermented products in their dishes. Galho is a vegetarian porridge cooked with rice, leaves, and condiments. Drinks include zutho and thutse, beers made with sticky rice.

Itinerary

DAY 01:- DIMAPUR TO KOHIMA:-

On arrival, you will meet our representative at Dimapur airport and a drive to the capital of Nagaland, Kohima. Enroute you may see locals women selling organic vegetables and fruits as well as other local unique and indigenous products. On reaching Kohima you can check-in at the pre-booked hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel.

DAY 02:-HORNBILL FESTIVAL:-

The next day, after breakfast, visit the Hornbill festival to see the grand opening ceremony of the event. Enjoy your time celebrating the festival and witnessing different performances by various Naga tribes. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 03:-HORNBILL FESTIVAL:-

In this day after breakfast, continue the merriment at the Hornbill festival in Kisama Heritage Village. Kisama, the heritage village is fully decorated in traditional Naga Style-full of amazing huts, food stalls, art and craft displays, and other shopping stalls. Tribes from all over the state come here to celebrate and showcase their dance, culture, cuisine. Overnight stay in Kohima.

DAY 04:-KOHIMA LOCAL SIGHTSEEING:-

After breakfast, you can go for sightseeing around Kohima. Visit the Kohima war cemetery, state museum and also buy some mementos from souvenir shops. Later, drive to Khonoma Green Village and sightsee the beautiful place. In the evening return to Khonoma and stay overnight at the guesthouse.

DAY 05:-KHONOMA VILLAGE:-

Spend the entire day sightseeing in Dziileke ecotourism village and Khonoma Village. Dzuleke..a word that resounds with the silence of the hills, of quiet sips from a piping hot teacup as you watch the clouds playing hide and seek with your senses. Here can stayed at one of the beautiful little wooden cottages of two sisters who let out the top room and terrace for visitors. All the huts welcome you with smiling faces and flowers filling every corner. You find the hottest chilies in the world (Bhoot Jalokia) here and watch as men carry fresh crabs from the Dzuleke river and serve you a breakfast of aromatic Binni rice to die for. Overnight stay at Khonoma.

DAY 06:-MOKOKCHUNG -UNGMA VILLAGE:-

You will be taken to Mokokchung en route Ungma village (the oldest and largest village in Nagaland). Ungma is a historic village situated 10 km south of the heart of Mokokchung town in India. Ungma is one of the most ancient Ao villages and of great tourist interest to view the folklore, customs and traditions of Ao Naga. Ungma is one of the more developed villages in Nagaland. Overnight stay at Mokokchung.

DAY 07:-LONGA VILLAGE AND LONGKHUM VILLAGE:-

You will be taken to Longsa village and Longkhum village for sightseeing It is the highest altitude Village of the Ao Region popularly called as the ‘Ao- Funemro’ during the Head Hunting Era, meaning the Van-Guard Village of the Ao Country and strategically commands a view of the surrounding hills and valleys, later you can return back to Mokokchung for an overnight stay.

DAY 08:-MOKOKCHUNG TO MON:-

After Breakfast, check out from hotel and you will be driven to Mon from Mokokchung via Tamlu or Tuliwhere you can visit tuli lenden baptist church. As you reach you can rest at the hotel in Mon Village.

DAY 09:- MON SIGHTSEEING:-

In the morning after breakfast, visit Shangyu and Mon village and in the afternoon you can also visit Chui village, Local Market Mon, Veda Peak Mon, Tenyimi Church Mon. Later, return to Mon for an overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 10:-MON TO DIBRUGARH/JORHAT & DEPARTURE:-

After breakfast check out from the hotel. Now ready to drive back to Dibrugarh/Jorhat airport/railway station. our representative will drop you at Railway station/airport to catch onwards train or flight & return to home with Sweet memories of Winter Nagaland Holidays Tour.
