Lachung is a mountain village close to the Tibetan border, in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. It’s divided by the Lachung River. The village is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Nearby, the Yumthang Valley’s Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary protects many species of rhododendron. The valley is also known for its waterfalls, pine forests, and hot springs.
The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a nature sanctuary with the river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India.
Lachen is a town in the North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at an elevation of 2,750 meters. The name Lachen means “big pass”. The town is being promoted as a tourist destination by the Sikkimese government. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake.
Chopta Valley is a valley situated in North Sikkim and Uttarakhand, two districts in north India. It is located at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. It is a popular area for tourism containing alpine vegetation, orchids, rhododendrons, and other high-altitude vegetation.
Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, located at an altitude of 5,183 m, in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is considered sacred by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus.
On arrival Lachung from there, you will meet and assist by our representative drive to hotel.
After breakfast, drive to the Yumthang Valley (12,000 ft), also known as the Valley of Flowers. From the Yumthang Valley back to the hotel, you will visit a hot spring that is believed to have some medicinal properties. Go back to the resort for lunch, head to Kaun and Gangtok. If the weather is clear on the way, then you can see the mighty Khangchendzonga from the perspective of Singhik. Upon arriving at Gangtok check-in at your hotel. The rest of the evening will be free for rest. Stayed in Gangtok overnight.
Today, the relatively unexplored and untouched areas in the northwestern region of Sikkim walk along dense mountain paths and head towards the Chopta valley. After walking a few kilometers from the Chopta Valley, you will visit Gurudongmar Lake, which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Sikhs. Regardless of its location at best about the lake, it never freezes even in the peak of winter. Later, continue your ride back to Lachen Hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.
After breakfast, depart for Lachung, which is 45 km from Lachen. Upon arriving at Lachen, you will be transferred to the hotel for overnight stay and dinner.
