The Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It’s known for its living root bridges, made from a rubber tree. This northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Then and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. This South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.

Excursion to Cherrapunjee - Cherrapunji with the historic name Sohra is more commonly used, and can also be spelled Cherrapunjee or Cherrapunji is a subdivisional town in the East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya - It is the traditional capital of Nongkhlaw Hima (Khasi tribal chieftainship constituting a petty state), both known as Sohra or Churra - Cherrapunji has often been credited as being the wettest place on Earth, but for now nearby Mawsynram currently holds that distinction - Sightseeing starts with visit Dwan Syiem view point, Noh kali kai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco park, Dainthlem Falls, etc - Check in Hotel - Evening free to stroll around the region - Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee
Trek to Nongrihat or the beautiful double decker living root bridge - Trek from Tyrna village - Tyrna the base village which is 20 kilometres from Cherrapunji - There is only one straight route to the bridge - Lot is heard about the exact number of steps to the bridge - But from my knowledge it would be 3400 - The starting 1800 steps are the toughest to climb down and up both - But the effort does not go in vain - There is a very very shaking iron rod bridge which was very scary to cross - The whole bridge shakes and swings and the water flowing 20-25 feet below makes the whole experience fantabulous- There is a single-decker living root bridge as well just before the original double-decker - Must visit place at Cherrapunjee if u can take the challenge to climb down and climb up the steps - Later drive to Shillong - Evening visit Ward’s Lake & Lady Hydari Park if time permits - evening you can visit the local market or pubs - Overnight stay in Shillong
It is approximately 85 kilometers and is nearly 03 hours drive by road - Drive from Cherrapunjee to Mawllynnong Village - Mawlynnong / Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred to as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003 - The village known for its cleanliness is a community-based eco-tourism initiative - The community has made a collective effort to maintain the ambiance of a clean village - The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the Single Decker living root bridge at a neighboring village Riwai - The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock - Visit Dawki, the Bangladesh Border (Tamabil Border from Bangladesh side) - Main attraction is the Umgot river with crystal clear water - Guests can enjoy along boat ride there [Optional i.e. payment will be on spot] - Evening return back to Shillong - On the way visit Elephant Falls if time permits - Check in Hotel - Evening you can visit the local market or pubs - Overnight stay in Shillong
