Meghalaya, along with the neighboring Indian states, has been of archeological interest. People have lived here since the Neolithic era. Here neolithic style jhum or shifting cultivation is practiced even today. The highland plateaus fed by abundant rains provided safety from floods and rich soil. The importance of Meghalaya is its possible role in human history through the domestication of rice. Meghalaya is one of the Seven Sister States of northeast India.
On arrival Guwahati you will meet our representative. and transfer to Shillong. Next board vehicle and enjoy the view on the
road. Its approximately 120 kilometers & is nearly 03 hours' drive by car. It is the capital
and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as the town reminded the European settlers of
Scotland. Hence, they would also refer to it as 'Scotland of the East'. On the way, if time
permits visit Umium Lake. On arrival check-in to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or
one can stroll around the local market or police Bazaar. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast drive to Cherrapujee. It is approximately 60 Kilometres
i.e. 02 - 2½ hours drive by car. Currently, the historical name Sohra is more commonly
used is a subdivisional town in the East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. It is credited as being
the wettest place on Earth, although nearby Mawsynram currently holds that record.
Cherrapunjee possesses some exotic waterfalls and impressive limestone caves. Visit
Dwan Syiem view point, Noh kali kai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco park,
etc. Later after lunch back to Shillong. On the way, visit Shillong Peak & Elephant Falls.
Return to The Hotel / Resort. Evening if time permits visit the local market (Police
Bazar). over Night stay at Hotel.
After breakfast drive back to Guwahati. It is approximately 130 Kilometres and is 3 ½
hours drive by car. Reach Guwahati, check into the hotel. Freshen up and the next place
to visit is Maa Kamakhya Temple. Situated atop the Nilachal Hills, the foremost shrine of
Assam, Kamakhya is an ancient seat of Tantrik and Shakti cults of Hinduism. The temple
offers grandstand views of the river Brahmaputra and its surroundings. The reigning deity
here is Goddess Parvati (Sati). Guests can have lunch at a local cuisine restaurant and
then free for shopping at Assam Emporium / Jagaran. Evening enjoys a river cruise on
the mighty Brahmaputra (Cruise has subjected to Water condition + availability and on
direct payment basis). Next drive back to Hotel / Resort. Overnight stay at Guwahati Hotel .
After breakfast Check out from the hotel & drive to local sightseeing visit Srimanta Kalakshetra and Dadash Jyoti linga. Departure Transfer to
Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU). Early morning breakfast. Then
visit four major trading centers and places of interest for tourists i.e. Pan Bazaar, Paltan
Bazaar, Fancy Bazaar and Uzan Bazaar. After breakfast, visit Srimanta Kalakshetra.
After breakfast, drive to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) and
return to home with amazing memories of Guwahati.
