Overview

Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. Today, it remains a Tibetan Buddhist center and a base for hikers organizing permits and transport for treks through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges.

Lachung is a mountain village close to the Tibetan border, in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. It’s divided by the Lachung River. The village is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Nearby, the Yumthang Valley’s Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary protects many species of rhododendron. The valley is also known for its waterfalls, pine forests, and hot springs.

Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season.

Day 01 :Arrive in Gangtok- Lachung (103 km- 2 hrs 50 minutes)

Arrive in Gangtok you will meet and help our representative and now you will be ready for Lachung. Lachung, situated at an altitude of 9600 feet above sea level, is a beautiful village amidst lush green peaks, which is a wonderful sight for tourists. Fascinating traveler of waterfalls, snowcapped mountains, luminous streams and a pleasant climate all around. Apricots, apples, and peach orchards are an added bonus. Put blankets and woven rugs on your hands.
On the way, stop at some amazing places to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Tashi scene — the landscape, Kabi Lungstoke — a popular historical town with Buddhist monasteries, Naga waterfalls — click some photos this fall. Later continue the journey to Chungthang for some memorable moments of the meeting of Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu and finally the Twin Falls and Bhima Nala Falls. Lunch at Namok (at your cost).
Arrival in Lachung in the evening. Complete check-in formalities at the hotel. Please rest for a while. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 02 : Short trip to Yumthang (26 km- 45 minutes)

On the 5th day of your Sikkim Gangtok Darjeeling tour, after breakfast, get ready for a day trip to the beautiful Yumthang Valley, located at an altitude of 11, 800 feet above sea level. En-Marg You come across a popular hot spring, known for its water with medicinal properties, which can cure skin diseases. Later, continue to Yumthang. Popularly known as the 'Valley of Flowers', this valley looks very beautiful during spring, when colorful flowers such as alpine, primula, rhododendron and more are in full bloom mode. During winter, the valley is covered with a sheet of white snow. Enjoy the wonderful weather and treat your eyes to beautiful views.
In the afternoon, back to Lachung for sightseeing. Lachung Monastery, cottage industry, and waterfalls. After this, you can enjoy walking in the nearby villages.
Lachung's oldest Buddhist monastery in Sikkim is situated at an altitude of 2750 meters above sea level. Belonging to the Naingmapa sect of Mahayana Buddhism, it houses the idol of Ya Rinpoche. It was originally built in 1806 and then Gompa, the renovated in 1969. The huge prayer wheel at the entrance is eye-catching.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03 : Lachung- Gangtok (103 km- 2 hrs 50 minutes)

After breakfast, depart for Gangtok. Stopping at the approach of Singhik and Mangan, just a few kilometers from each other. If the weather is clear, these views offer some of the most amazing views of the various peaks in the Himalayas including the mountain peaks, Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Pandim, Mount Simvo, Mount Jopuno, and Mount Siniolchu. Do not miss the opportunity to click pictures of beautiful views here. After spending some memorable time here, continue till Gangtok.
Afternoon arrival in Gangtok. Check-in at the hotel. Please rest for a while. The evening is free for you to engage in activities of your interest. You can take a walk on the bustling Mall Road or participate in shopping. MG Marg, Lal Bazaar and Purana Bazaar are the best places to shop in Gangtok. Thangkas, Tibetan handicrafts, woolen clothes are some of the best here.
Stay up all night.

Day 04 : Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir

After morning breakfast, visit Tsomgo Lake and Baba Temple for a day.
About 38 km away, Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft) or Canggu Lake is a snow-capped lake, which receives its water from snow-capped mountains. The view is extremely beautiful and is a favorite haunt of Brahmin ducks and other migratory birds. As it is an important tourist attraction, you can sell nick-nacks and yak cheese in some shops. You can also opt for a yak ride to explore the breathtaking scenery. Look at the natural scenery and see the Lord Shiva temple located on the banks of the lake.
After this, start heading towards the Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial War temple, about 20 km from here. Located near Jelep Pass, this temple is situated at an altitude of 13000 feet. The temple is dedicated to Harbhajan Singh, a soldier of the 23rd Punjab Regiment, who sacrificed his life in India-China in 1962. It is said that after his death in battle, the soldier came in the dreams of one of his friends and asked to build a memorial for him. For this reason, the Indian Army built this memorial to commemorate the sacrifice of this soldier. Sometime later, this war memorial turned into a pilgrimage site. Built-in 1983, the temple is in this martyr's bunker and has his paintings, clothes and other personal belongings. There is a small wish pool nearby where you can throw a coin to wish.
It is free in the evening. Night in Gangtok (Visit Tsomgo Lake is subject to weather conditions.)

Day 05 : Depart

After breakfast check out from the hotel drive to Bagdogra airport/ railway station. Return to home with Sweet memories of Unforgettable.
