Assam is a state in northeastern India known for its wildlife, archaeological sites and tea plantations. In the west, Guwahati, Assam’s largest city, features silk bazaars and the hilltop Kamakhya Temple. Umananda Temple sits on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra river. The state capital, Dispur, is a suburb of Guwahati. The ancient pilgrimage site of Hajo and Madan Kamdev, the ruins of a temple complex, lie nearby. Dhansiri is the main river of the Golaghat District of Assam and the Dimapur District of Nagaland. It originates from the Laisang peak of Nagaland. It flows through a distance of 352 kilometres from south to north before joining the Brahmaputra on its south bank. Its total catchment area is 1,220 square kilometres.Mājuli or Majoli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India. It had an area of 880 square kilometres at the beginning of the 20th century, but having lost significantly to erosion it covers 352 square kilometres as of 2014.
On arrival Guwahati Airport / Railway station from there you will meet and assist by our representative and now you will ready to “hill the queen of Hill” drive to M.V Mahabaahu. Travelling to Mahabaahu is very exciting as it covers a few popular destinations on the way on arrival at Mahabaahu check into hotel & overnight stay.
After breakfast to visit Kaziranga National Park. We reach the KohoraMihimukh and start our morning adventure; once-in-a-lifetime elephant-backed safari where we search for the elusive rhinoceros, tigers, swamp deer, hog deer and more. After breakfast at a resort in Kaziranga, drive on to Bagori, the Western Range of Kaziranga and get into open jeeps to hunt for more wildlife. Return to the ship for early lunch and take time off to catch up on the lost sleep for a couple of hours as MV Mahabaahu sails towards BishwanathGhat. Those who make themselves comfortable to enjoy the sail can see a change in the vegetation as we move upstream. We enjoy a cup of tea and enjoy a talk on ‘Silk in Assam’ and a short orientation on BishwanathGhat. We take the tenders to visit this charming village.
After Breakfast is followed by an orientation of the ‘Boat Safari’ and the ‘Mishing Village’. We enjoy a morning boat safari at the Dhansiri confluence. The presence of hovering pied kingfishers is an indication of fish life & the fallen branches of trees into the river support roof turtles. Endangered vultures and eagles too can be spotted. Several migratory birds depending on the time of the year feature themselves in this area. Whatever we see is a bonus to all that we’ve seen at the Park—wild life is always a gamble and weather (fog/mist/wind/rain) plays a major role. (In the month of October and May we enjoy a boat safari at the confluence of Diphlu and Brahmaputra river in the morning and at Dhansiri in the afternoon) We enjoy lunch while MV Mahabaahu sails towards the Mishing village
After breakfast to visit Yogic walk and a Yoga session as others enjoy a walk with the naturalist, the MV Mahabaahu sails onwards to a Mishing Village. After breakfast we gather for a short orientation on ‘The Mishingtribals’ and then leave in our tenders for the visit. Generally the Mishing live on the bank of the River. They live in Chang ghar, a house with a raised platform& overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast as we sail towards NeamatiGhat followed by a talk and orientation on ‘Sibsagar and the Ahom civilization’ together with an orientation on the ‘Tea-estate visit’. We disembark and drive on to a Tea Estate for a relaxed morning with the Tea-estate family to get a peep into the lifestyle of the families that have been involved in the tea business for generations. We enjoy a tea-talk and tea-tasting at the estate. After an Assamese lunch, we drive to Sibsagar, the ancient city of the Ahom Kings; a town that literally means 'the ocean of Lord Shiva’. The district is strewn with the tell-tale ruins of a powerful empire of the Ahoms&overnight stay at hotel
After breakfast check out from hotel and now ready to back to Guwahati (195 km 2hours journey) our representative will drop you at airport / railway station to catch onward flight & return to home with sweet memories of Assam Holiday Tour.
